“The Best” record and visuals off “A Better Time” project by Popular Nigerian superstar, Davido, featuring his protégé and record signee, Mayorkun, is a clever instructional concept that accelerates him to new strengths in his music career amongst contemporaries. He recently proclaims in an interview with Ndani.tv saying, “I’m the biggest, it’s on papers, it there. I’m the biggest in Nigeria!”, He says very strongly with un-shaking confidence in between. All these began to happen towards this direction close to the release of his recent album, “A Better Time”, which took a saddle and made wide spread during the festive season in 2020, inside the global COVID-19’s turmoil.

The 28-year old singer, released a second version of his 2019 project, “A Good Time”, lacing giant strides amongst great projects that closed 2020; he locked us with his strict hit making and relieving records, that took us along during the deadly COVID-19, pandemic scriptures un scrolling mortality rates and opening up horrific situations in human lives, in various parts of the world. Davido continued hit making, stayed home all day recording, away from his booked tours and shows to attend in UK, America, etc. During the COVID-19 plight that was eroding great walls in the world. Davido’s fine follow up project, “A Better Time”, was created from the moments of a “good time”, which examined strong relationship correlating family and friends, and his entire fans.

While we have embraced great songs, with very few released visuals for tracks in the recent project, Davido unveiled a very creative visual for his 7th track titled, “The Best” featuring, the Mayor Of Lagos, Mayorkun. On the same note, introducing the legendary Nigerian singer, Wande Coal, from the record lyrics, with spectacular honor of his presence in video. As Coal literally represents an anchor and also a leader in video concept; structured leaders as Chinese, Kung Fu masters training students. Wande simply represented Sensei, training students in the video, like Davido who was Mayorkun’s teacher in the creation, respectively.

“Nwannem I come from the ghetto/Sho get? You get o/Sho get o? O get o then forget, yeah/When I give my attack o, you defend/Reset o your defense o/O get o, then forget na (yeah)/Shey you sing pass Wande Coal (pele)/Celeb o/ehn ehn o/Falsetto, forget na, yeah/You see I learnt from the best o (the best)/Davido, sho get o/Mo bad o, but forget na”. Exuding strict controversy.

“The Best”, from the entire record to the visual creation, focuses and amplifies Davido’s music career as it heavily presents in the visual disposition. A very unique visual structure, thrilling and quite fascinating as Davido aimed at making us see the beautification in his career glow through his braggadocio, strong self resonating lyrical essence. “And I learn from the best/myself, myself ooh, Davido, baddest ooh” He took his verse praising self, crippled the Chinese sonic spectrum cutting through the section. Davido is a very creative superstar who have learned to pass messages across through his record, sometimes he plays controversial, connecting dots that might be failing irrespective of him and his team, making carefully planned out strategies to sell out points that makes credits to some part of the world who might believe in a while, despite the music industry competition between acts in Nigeria. Of course, we know “The Best”; his character and simple traits, and symbolism spelled fully structured on them records.
